When/where is Come Out With Pride 2015?
Come Out With Pride’s event this year, 2015, will be held October 8-11. The week will include a series of official events leading to the main event on Saturday October 10 from Noon to 9pm at Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando (Festival Map) – That main event day will include a 5K race, festival, parade, entertainment, dance party, and fireworks. You can also view details about our event in our Pride Guide, which can be found at Watermark Media Stands throughout Orlando. Check out the digital version here!
What is the theme for 2015?
This year, we are celebrating PRIDE: United. We are coming together as a community to celebrate our progress and the diversity in our community.
Where can I park?
We have prepared a parking map for you. Click here to see it!
Note that we do not handle parking. City and private companies make parking spaces available for a flat fee during large events downtown Orlando. You may park for free in the streets where allowed. Note that ROBINSON, ROSALIND and EOLA DRIVE will be closed ALL DAY around Lake Eola. We are partnering with Juice Bike and Bike Valet so you can bike to the event as a green form of transportation. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for a promo code as we approach the event.
I noticed you have bars on the map. Where can I drink?
Come Out With Pride has the largest beer garden at Lake Eola. We have barricades all around the lake and the yellow lines on this map (click here) indicate the drinking area. Walk around the lake, enjoy the festival and the entertainment with a cocktail in hand. All liquor sales at COWP bars benefit Come Out With Pride Orlando.
What are the date/time(s) for the actual events being held during Come Out With Pride?
All date/times for the events can be found here on our website as we add them. Mouse over EVENTS. A detailed schedule of the main event day is also available for viewing on each specific event page. Check out our Pride Guide in digital form here! with all the details listed as well.
What is the best way to stay updated of what may be happening during Pride Week or on Pride day?
Subscribe to our events on Facebook and visit our website at comeoutwithpride.com
I keep seeing ticket prices for the event. Do I need to purchase a ticket in order to enjoy Come Out With Pride?
We are proud to keep most Come Out With Pride events completely FREE to the public, but do offer special ticketed events as well. VIP areas, Dinner and Fireworks, Club H2O, and some other events are specially ticketed, and may include special access, entertainment viewing areas, free food, or free drinks. Visit the tickets section of our Facebook page or on this website under events to review the perks of each event and to purchase tickets.
How can I make sure Pride remains a FREE event?
Our annual budget for this event is close to $300,000. This includes half in trade that we receive from generous sponsors (advertising, marketing, equipment) and half in cash that needs to be spent for the various year-round expenses and “day of”. Few understand that while Come Out With Pride is a non profit organization, it is still subjected to normal rates for Park Rental, Police, Fire, entertainment, liquor, road closure, equipment rental and purchase, office space, etc. to attend so long that is is leading the organization, but such pledge becomes more and more difficult to keep unless a whole community gets engaged in making sure their Pride celebration remains a FREE ONE. To do so, make sure you promote the event. Liquor and ticket sales for special events account for close to 25% of our budget. Know of a vendor or sponsor interested in promoting their business to 120,000 individuals? refer them to us. And of course, whenever possible, attend our fundraising events year long.
I would like to be a volunteer for this year’s event. How do I get involved?
We are so excited that you want to volunteer your services. You can submit y our availability here, and someone from the team will be in touch when an opportunity arises.
What are “Official Events” and how are they pre-screened?
Official events are organized by third party promoters who have expressed interest in taking part in the week long celebration. The promoters submit a proposal to the Board of Come Out With Pride who approves the event. Promoters pay an “official event” fee which is flat and based on the day and length of the event. Such fee is put towards promoting the official events and the rights to use the name and logo of COWP which are trademarked. Promoters also receive assistance from COWP in the conceptual implementation of the event as well as recommendations based on COWP’s past experience.
I am a member of the media how do I attend this event?
Media/Press outlets that have arranged to officially cover the event may pick up their pass at the VIP Check In area of the Launch Party or Church Street Block Party. On October 10th, credentials can be picked up at the Information Booth at Lake Eola Park. To request a media/press pass, please send a request to firstname.lastname@example.org
